What are you studying?

Why did you want to become a CA Student Rep?

Having participated in CA’s Pitch Perfectly Throwdown, where I was given the chance to develop and showcase my quick thinking and communication skills to a panel of potential employers, I realised that becoming a Chartered Accountants Student Representative could provide me with the best of both worlds!

The ability to speak to students about my passions in accounting and empower them to make the most of their career opportunities as well as the chance to meet successful industry professionals primarily drove me to apply for this role.

Not only could I gain insight into the career I wish to pursue, I believe that being a student representative will enable me to better understand the CA Program and going forward, pave the way to a rewarding, global career in business.

How do you want to make a difference in the world?

Having had the privilege to be educated, I believe in making a positive difference in the world by giving back to society, especially to those less fortunate than myself.

By becoming a Chartered Accountant, I will be able to give back generously by using the breadth of knowledge, skills and experiences gained from my CA qualification to improve the lives of others.

How would your friends, family or a colleague describe you?

My close ones would describe me as outgoing, bubbly and slightly quirky! I always bring a positive attitude to everything I do, and I think that's what helps me to get through all that I do. I believe that mistakes provide you with opportunities to learn and grow, so I like to take risks, be challenged and improve myself by learning from my failures!

What are your career/life aspirations?

The obvious answer would be in accounting. However, looking at it from a broader perspective, the reason I am so drawn to the profession is because of the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the industry. Personally, the most important thing I look for in my career is to be able to walk into work everyday and feel challenged, excited and inspired to put my best foot forward, and give back the best I can to society.

Tell me how you first got involved in with accounting/business, what inspired you?

In Year 9, I studied French, Music and Latin, with absolutely no intention of studying business in the future! In Year 11, I decided that I wanted to expand myself and learn more. Dropping music (but still keeping it as a hobby), I took a leap of faith and picked up Economics. I knew NOTHING about the subject, but was excited to see what it had in store for me. Ever since then, I've been drawn to the dynamic and ever-changing world of business, and knew that I'd like to pursue a career in this field. Upon research and speaking to people in the industry, this has led to where I am now, studying commerce with a major in accounting.
