What are you studying?
Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Accounting and Finance) conjoint with Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Economics).
How do you want to make a difference in the world?
I would want to make a difference in the world through my actions. I believe staying humble and continuously finding ways to better yourself is very important. I want to make a difference in the world by helping others not just in times of need but in ways where they can get inspired to go out there and change the world for the better. I was always an advocate for the environment ever since I joined and ran the environmental club in high school. I had a passion for protecting the environment and always encouraged others to do small things to help our planet. To me, making a difference in the world is not something we should do just to be recognised, but we should do it for the betterment of society. The things I advocate and inspire people to work towards should never be just to benefit an individual but a whole community, a city or a country. That's the reason we work to make a difference, it is to make a difference not just for ourselves but the whole world.
How would your friends, family or a colleague describe you?
My friends would describe me as weird, passionate and determined. Whoever I meet, they are bound to hear about what my interests are and the fact I love studying and accounting. It may seem weird at first, that I always talk about the subject, but its because I have such a passion for it that I believe everyone should do it.
What you are interested in outside of Uni and work?
Some of my hobbies include reading, playing violin, playing badminton and studying. I also love exploring the world and like to immerse myself in new cultures and create fond memories that I can look back on.
What was your fondest memory from university so far?
My fondest memory in University would probably be when me and a group of friends all took part in a Business Case Competition organised by the Management Consulting Club. The competition had spanned over four days and on each of those days we were given a business case where we had to solve a problem. The whole experience was surreal as it allowed us to use what we had been learning in University so far in a very real and practical way. We also had to present our case to some business professionals which was a very daunting experience but through the support of my friends we all managed to do very well and learn a lot from the experience.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about studying business/accounting?
You should study accounting! Accounting is more than just a desk job where you crunch numbers. Many industries need accountants and you can combine your creative passion with accounting. An accountant is a person who wants to make an impact in their world and the great thing about accounting is how broad your horizon is. Whether you want to go into consulting or working for a company or the public. As an accountant you can shape the road you walk on and what you want to achieve.
