What are you studying?

Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Business (Marketing).

How do you want to make a difference in the world?

What attracted me to accounting in the first place is the ability to work across a wide variety of industries – from sport, to fashion, right through to the public sector. Therefore through my career, I want to make a difference in this world by being actively involved with the people in the field in which I’m working, rather than just the paperwork side of things.

How would your friends, family or a colleague describe you?

My friends and family would describe me as passionate, motivated, insightful and creative. I am someone who always puts in as much as I can and as a result, I complete everything wholeheartedly. I am a team player as I love to work with other people, but I also strive independently. I highly value my family and friends, which is why I am also compassionate and always aim to be there when they're in need.

What are your career/life aspirations?

My dream job would be to work as a Chartered Accountant for a major company and experience the 'behind-the-scenes' in different fields such as sport, music and fashion. Growing though my career is also very important to me, bringing about an attribute of mine, which is that I like to take pride in my achievements.

Tell me how you first got involved in with accounting/business, what inspired you?

Before starting university, I was studying science-based subjects such as Physics, Biology and Chemistry, although I knew I didn’t want to work in such fields. I took a look at my interests, which were that I like maths and enjoy problem solving. This led to my decision of accounting as an area of study. After further research, what attracted me to accounting was the potential to work across a wide variety of industries, from sport through to fashion. I also admire the ability to grow with your career whilst developing as a professional in the field.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about studying business/accounting?

Business/accounting is a great option - even if you are unsure, because it is an area that branches out into so many different fields.
