What are you studying?

Bachelor of Actuarial Studies / Bachelor of Finance.

Why did you want to become a CA Student Rep?

After year 12, I did not know what degree to study at university, however I did know that I wanted to work in a big firm. I ended up choosing Actuarial Studies and Finance and enjoy studying it as there is a lot that I have learnt. I am currently in my third year and have attended many networking sessions with big firms and something that I have heard at every event is that the Chartered Accountants qualification will give you great opportunities in the future and the importance of it. I sometimes think to myself, "Why didn't I study accounting and then continue further study to become a Chartered Accountant?"

So here I am today, as a student representative of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand, to highlight all the benefits of a CA qualification to everyone from high school students to people currently in the workforce.

How would your friends, family or a colleague describe you?

Friendly, energetic and optimistic.

What you are interested in outside of Uni and work?

I am a lead radio host and managing director for both the Canberra Tamil Youth radio program and also Multicultural Youth Connections which is an organisation I co-founded.

I am currently president of this organisation which aims to promote peace and harmony among the Canberra community and raise awareness of the current key youth issues which include unemployment, education and health.

What are your career/life aspirations?

I would like to work in a leading consulting firm and help out all organisations which have great values.

What do you wish other people knew about studying business/accounting?

I wish they knew that there is a huge scope for them after they graduate and that it is crucial to start networking early so that that firm HR remember them during internship applications.
