What are you studying?

Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting and Sport Management.

Why did you want to become a CA Student Rep?

I wanted to become a CA Student Rep as it was a great oppotunity to network, develop my public speaking skills and be involved to range of events that are relevant to my degree. My goal after completing my degree is to complete and become a Chartered Accountant, becoming a CA Student Rep was a great way to learn more about program.

How do you want to make a difference in the world?

Making a difference in the world is very important to me. I love to inspire people to achieve their goals, dreams and to maximise their potential. I enjoy when people get excited about what they can achieve when they see the big picture. My positive experience teaching young children karate, being a role model for the younger generation and inspiring them to also become a black belt has left me wanting to make a difference by inspiring others to achieve their goals.

How would your friends, family or a colleague describe you?

My family would describe me as a self-motivated individual, and happy to take on challenges and to perform to the best of my ability. I am strong minded and driven, especially when it comes to my passions which includes university and sports..

What are your career/life aspirations?

After completing my degree, my next goal is to become a Chartered Accountant. My motivation to work as an accountant is driven because; financial dependence impacts everyone in life. In particular, I would love to work in Audit as auditing would allow me to develop a greater understanding of how all different types of businesses work and see businesses from every angle including what makes a business successful at the start of my career in accounting. This would give me the background knowledge to possibly open my own business one day.

What do you wish other people knew about studying business/accounting?

Studying business or accounting is not boring and it is not all about numbers either. Studying a business degree gives students amazing opportunities and events to get involved in, including becoming a CA Student Rep which allows you to network. One thing I wish I knew when I started studying was how early you need to think about and get prepared for your future career. There are lots of opportunities out there for students to gain experience before graduating which will help you to secure a job when your degree is finished.
