Achiever Programme

Nothing can prepare you for what a career in business could be like better than trying it out for yourself. The Achiever Programme provides successful students studying Business, Commerce or Accounting valuable hands-on work experience, insight into which accounting service lines could be right for you, get career advice and make important industry contacts.

The application process is also a great way to practice for the graduate recruitment process as you may get the opportunity to complete up to five steps from online application including Cognitive Ability Test and video interview through to an assessment centre and a face-to-face employer interviews.

Placements run for up to 12 weeks during the summer holidays, across a variety of employer types. The programme is designed to be flexible, providing employers with a pool of potential students to choose from.

    Who is eligible to apply?

    Any student that is currently undertaking a degree in Business, Commerce or Accounting in Australia and New Zealand. The programme is open to students at any stage of their university studies, including Post-Graduate students in Accounting interested in a career in Accounting.

    How long do achiever placements run for?

    Student placements will run up to 12 weeks for candidates with placement periods varying dependent on individual employers participating. The placements will run between November 2017 - March 2018. Placement times are flexible based on both employer needs and student availability.

    What type of employers are involved in Achiever that I can work with?

    Previous employers involved have included large corporates, the Big 4, Mid-tier accounting organisations, small-to-medium accounting organisations, government sector and not-for-profit.

    Do I get to choose what employer I want to apply for?

    As a candidate you won’t specify a single employer to apply for, as you will be considered for all roles offered in your region based on your suitability. Further down the selection process, some candidates will be provided with the opportunity to meet potential employers, and if successful in the one-on-one interview, may receive a placement offer.

    What steps are involved in applying?

    The detailed steps on the application process will be outlined when applications open. However, there are several steps to the application process that you may be asked to undertake including; registering your details with us, completing a series of cognitive tests, video interviewing, assessment centres and a one on one interview with potential employers.

    Do I get paid while on placement?

    The salary for student placements is at the discretion of employers and does vary firm to firm.

    Can I apply multiple times?

    No, applications are strictly limited to one per candidate.

    When do applications open?

    Student applications open in July 2017.

    When do applications close?

    Applications will close mid-August 2017 or earlier if the desired number of candidates have successfully progressed through from online assessments. As applications may close earlier, we recommend you submit your application and complete online assessments at the earliest time possible to be considered for a placement.
