2022 One Young World

The brightest young leaders in the world creating positive change come together.

In September, the 2022 One Young World Summit took place in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Each year One Young World Summit convenes the brightest young talent from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact. The most talented young leaders from 190+ countries are counselled by influential political, business, and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle, amongst many other global figures.

In continuation of our efforts and commitment to support the next generation of Difference Makers, we are proud to have sent two aspiring Chartered Accountants to participate in the 2022 Summit and represent both Chartered Accountants Worldwide and Chartered Accountants ANZ. This year our delegates were Maxine Diciembre, a CA ANZ student representative based in Perth, and Luka Licul, one of our student affiliates from Wellington.

Our delegates had the opportunity to meet and develop their knowledge of the world’s social issues alongside other young and talented leaders from across the world and be able to listen in on and interact with world leaders such as Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, Sir Bob Geldof and Sylvia Earle on social issues such as education, climate change, media freedom and poverty alleviation.

After each Summit, having made long lasting connections the delegates, known as One Young World Ambassadors, return to their organisations and communities to work on their own initiatives or lend the power of the One Young World network to existing initiatives. Of those in employment, many return to their companies and set about creating change from within, energising their corporate environment.

"I am eager to be representing Chartered Accountants ANZ at the One Young World Summit in London. I hope to learn from other young leaders making a positive impact in the global community, and to learn not just for myself, but for generations yet to come."
Lontya Kalililo, 2019 OYW CA Delegate.

What is One Young World and how did it start?

Founded in 2009, One Young World is a UK-based charity that has built a network of over 9,000 ambassadors, and positively impacted over 17.5 million people worldwide.

The organisation "identifies, promotes and connects the world's most impactful young leaders to create a better world, with more responsible, more effective leadership".

The One Young World Summit sees the global forum for young leaders return ‘home’ to London for the first time since the inaugural Summit in 2010.

Celebrating the 10th year anniversary, the 2019 summit will be the largest ever staged with co-founders David Jones and Kate Robertson championing the power of young people in innovative thinking and developing new ideas.
